Indian benchmark indices closed with minimal gains on Thursday, as traders offloaded positions at elevated levels.

The BSE Sensex advanced 109.25 points, or 0.14%, to settle at 77,100.47, while the Nifty 50 added 34.35 points, or 0.14%, to finish at 24,056.00.

Both indices surrendered most of their intraday progress, signaling caution among investors despite the positive close.

The muted performance marks a pause in the recent upward momentum.

On Wednesday, Indian equities staged a firm recovery, with the Nifty 50 climbing 0.83% to 24,021 and the Sensex rising 1% to 76,991.

That session saw investors recouping significant ground lost earlier in the week.
