The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced gas production at its Sahito-1 well in Pakistan.

The state-backed operator confirmed the start of operations on Tuesday, marking a new supply addition for the country's energy infrastructure.

Initial output from the Sahito-1 well is running at 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

This production level contributes to domestic supply efforts in a market that has seen several recent discoveries come online.

The start of production at Sahito-1 follows other recent supply developments in Pakistan's energy sector.

Mari Energies recently began delivering natural gas from its Shams-1 discovery to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), with supplies effective from June 19.
