Pakistan's state-run Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced oil production from the Bobi Deep-1 well in the Sanghar district of Sindh province.
The operator confirmed the start of operations on Monday, marking a new supply addition for the country's domestic energy sector.
The well is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day.
OGDCL highlighted that the project was executed entirely through indigenous capabilities, underscoring a strategic push toward self-reliance in exploration and production within Pakistan.
This development follows the company's recent commencement of gas production at its Sahito-1 well, indicating a broader ramp-up in domestic hydrocarbon output.
For market participants, the addition of 2,000 bpd represents a modest but tangible increase in local supply, potentially easing pressure on domestic refining inputs.
