Pakistan's state-run Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced oil production from the Bobi Deep-1 well in Sindh's Sanghar district.

The operator confirmed the start of operations on Monday, marking a new supply addition for the country's energy sector.

The well is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day.

OGDCL stated that the project was executed entirely through indigenous capabilities, highlighting a shift toward domestic technical execution in the exploration and production segment.

This development follows OGDCL's recent commencement of gas production at its Sahito-1 well, signaling a broader ramp-up in domestic hydrocarbon output.

The dual start-ups aim to bolster local supply amid global market volatility, with oil prices having reached their highest levels since the start of the Iran conflict.
