A major explosion at the Barzan local gas supply facility in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City has killed at least 13 people and injured 66 others, according to reports from The Hindu Businessline.

The victims include Indian and Pakistani nationals, highlighting the international workforce present at the critical energy infrastructure site.

The incident has triggered immediate concerns regarding potential disruptions to Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and export capabilities.

Ras Laffan is the heart of Qatar’s energy sector, housing the world’s largest LNG export complex.

Any operational downtime at the Barzan facility, which supplies local gas, could ripple through the broader industrial ecosystem, affecting downstream processing and export schedules.

Qatar Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi has confirmed the casualty figures, underscoring the severity of the event.
