A major explosion at a gas processing facility in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City has killed at least 13 people and injured 66 others, according to Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi.

The incident occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility, a critical node in the country’s energy infrastructure.

Nepali workers were among those injured in the blast, highlighting the reliance on foreign labor in the region’s industrial sector.

Qatari authorities have ruled out sabotage and confirmed that the explosion has had no impact on liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations.

This assurance is crucial for global energy markets, which had braced for potential supply disruptions from the world’s largest LNG exporter.

The minister’s statement aims to stabilize market sentiment and prevent speculative spikes in energy prices.
