An explosion at a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facility in Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial zone has killed at least 13 people and injured 66 others.
The incident occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility, a critical node in the country’s energy infrastructure.
Qatar’s Energy Minister, Saad al-Kaabi, confirmed the casualty figures and described the event as a "technical accident," though details regarding the cause and operational impact remain limited.
The blast has triggered immediate concern among energy traders regarding potential supply disruptions.
Ras Laffan is one of the world’s largest LNG export hubs, and any operational downtime at its processing plants could tighten global gas markets.
While the extent of production losses is not yet clear, the incident adds to existing supply-side risks in a market already sensitive to geopolitical and logistical pressures.
