Slovak search-and-rescue teams have begun operations in Venezuela, joining a growing international coalition responding to the twin earthquakes that struck the country earlier this week.
The crews arrived on Monday and commenced search efforts in the early hours of Tuesday local time, focusing on collapsed structures where survivors may still be trapped.
The deployment adds to the multinational relief effort already underway.
US teams recently rescued a newborn baby from the rubble, marking one of the few confirmed survivals in the extensive debris fields.
Mexico has also committed a military contingent of 250 rescue workers and medical personnel to assist with recovery operations.
Conditions for the rescue teams remain challenging, with high temperatures and the passage of time complicating search efforts.
