U.S. International Finance Partners (IFP) is exploring major investment opportunities in Mozambique, following a high-level meeting between the firm’s leadership and the country’s president.

Garrett Gish, IFP’s president and CEO, led the delegation to Maputo on Monday, where he met with President Daniel Chapo to discuss potential large-scale developments in the region.

The engagement comes as the Mozambique LNG project, valued at approximately $20 billion, continues to navigate significant operational and security challenges.

The Afungi peninsula development has long been viewed as a cornerstone of the country’s energy strategy, but progress has been hampered by ongoing hurdles, including security concerns in the Cabo Delgado province.

Recent reports indicate that the project remains in a state of flux, with investors cautious about the risk environment.

This visit by IFP represents a notable step in the ongoing efforts to attract foreign capital to Mozambique’s energy sector.
