The World Bank has moved to disburse $27 million in performance-based incentives to 20 Nigerian states, rewarding local governments that have met specific governance benchmarks.

The funding is part of the HOPE Governance Programme, a multi-year initiative designed to strengthen public financial management and service delivery across the country.

Five states have been identified as top performers, receiving a combined $15 million of the total allocation.
