Swiss industrial conglomerate ABB has agreed to acquire British engineering firm Rotork in a transaction valued at £4.1 billion.

The Zurich-based company announced it will pay 506p per share for the Bath-headquartered manufacturer of electric actuators and control systems.

5 billion range for similar strategic targets, described the proposed transaction as a key move to strengthen its portfolio in automation and motion control.

The deal represents a significant premium to Rotork’s recent trading levels and marks another high-profile exit for a FTSE 250 constituent.

The acquisition underscores the continued appetite of large multinational industrials for specialized UK engineering assets.

ABB, which has previously launched bids in the $5.5 billion range for similar strategic targets, described the proposed transaction as a key move to strengthen its portfolio in automation and motion control.

The offer aligns with broader market trends where foreign buyers are increasingly snapping up London-listed firms, often citing valuation gaps and strategic fit as primary drivers.
