Swiss industrial conglomerate ABB has agreed to acquire British engineering firm Rotork in a deal valued at £4.1 billion.

The Zurich-based company announced it will pay 506p per share for the Bath-headquartered manufacturer of electric actuators and control systems.

The transaction underscores the continued appetite of foreign buyers for UK industrial assets.

Rotork joins a growing list of British companies being acquired by overseas rivals, reflecting broader trends in the UK market where domestic firms are increasingly targeted by larger international groups seeking strategic expansion.

ABB described the proposed acquisition as a strategic move to bolster its portfolio in industrial automation and control technologies.

The deal highlights the premium placed on specialized engineering capabilities in the current market environment, as global industrial giants seek to consolidate their technological leadership.
