Access Bank Plc has joined forces with the Nigerian Federal Government to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital financial infrastructure among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The partnership aims to expand small business operations by integrating advanced technology into daily commercial activities, marking a significant step in the bank’s broader strategy to digitize the country’s informal economy.
This development follows a recent warning from Access Bank (Ghana) PLC, which urged youth-owned SMEs to integrate AI into their operations to maintain competitiveness.
The Nigerian initiative extends that logic into a formalized public-private framework, suggesting that the lender views AI not just as a competitive tool for individual firms, but as a systemic requirement for economic growth in emerging markets.
The move aligns with Access Bank’s recent strategic deepening in the SME sector.
The lender previously launched a dedicated SME application and announced plans to host its first-ever MSME conference, signaling a clear shift toward serving smaller businesses through specialized digital channels.
