Aditya Birla Renewables (ABRen), a subsidiary of Grasim Industries, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sprng Energy for ₹17,200 crore.

The transaction significantly expands the conglomerate's footprint in the Indian renewable energy market, adding substantial capacity to its existing portfolio.

The deal brings Aditya Birla Group's total renewable energy capacity to 9.3 GWp.

This acquisition represents a strategic pivot toward scaling green energy assets, aligning with broader corporate goals to diversify beyond traditional industrial operations.

The move underscores the increasing competition among major Indian conglomerates to secure market share in the rapidly growing renewable sector.

This development follows recent capital commitments by the group in other industrial areas, including a ₹12,000 crore expansion of its alumina refinery in Odisha.
