Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to acquire a stake of more than 20% in Electrovaya Inc., the Canadian lithium-ion battery manufacturer based in Mississauga, Ontario.

The U.S. e-commerce and cloud computing giant struck a commercial agreement with the battery maker that includes a warrants deal, marking a significant expansion of Amazon's footprint in energy storage technology.

The investment underscores Amazon's strategy to vertically integrate critical components of its logistics and data center infrastructure.

By securing a substantial equity position in Electrovaya, Amazon gains direct access to advanced battery technology, potentially reducing reliance on third-party suppliers and enhancing control over the energy systems powering its growing network of fulfillment centers and electric delivery vehicles.

This move aligns with a broader trend of technology giants diversifying their energy partnerships.

In 2026, Amazon has already secured multiple strategic alliances, including collaborations with Corning, Meta Platforms, and Nvidia.
