Augmont Enterprises has formalized a strategic partnership with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) to accelerate the adoption of Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs).

The fintech firm, which operates an integrated gold trading platform, stated that the alliance is designed to broaden market participation and streamline the infrastructure for digital gold trading.

The move comes as Augmont anticipates a resolution from the Indian government regarding a longstanding goods and services tax (GST) issue that has complicated the listing process for new EGR products.

The company indicated that regulatory clarity on the tax treatment is imminent, which would pave the way for the next wave of EGR issuances on the exchange.

Electronic Gold Receipts allow investors to trade fractional ownership of gold on stock exchanges, offering a more liquid and accessible alternative to physical bullion.

By partnering with NSE, Augmont seeks to enhance the ecosystem's robustness, potentially attracting a wider base of retail and institutional investors who prefer the convenience of exchange-traded instruments.
