Fuel prices in the Azores are set to decline for the third consecutive month in August, with gasoline dropping by 1.6 cents per liter and diesel falling by 3.1 cents per liter.
The reductions, published in the Official Journal on Monday, bring the price of 95-octane gasoline to €1.816 per liter and diesel to €1.722 per liter.
The latest cuts continue a downward trend that began in June, reversing a period of significant price increases earlier in the year.
Between February and May, diesel prices in the region had accumulated a rise of 53 cents per liter, driven by global market pressures and regional supply dynamics.
The current easing provides some relief to consumers and businesses in the archipelago, which often face higher energy costs due to its geographic isolation.
This development aligns with broader trends in the Portuguese energy market, where mainland fuel prices have also begun to soften.
