Bank of Maharashtra reported a 27% year-on-year increase in net profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, reaching ₹2,020 crore.

The public sector lender attributed the bottom-line improvement to improved asset quality and rising income streams, marking a significant turnaround in its financial performance.

Indian Bank recently reported a 10% increase in net profit for the same quarter, reaching ₹3,273 crore, citing similar drivers of business expansion.

Interest income for the bank grew to ₹8,037 crore in the quarter, up from ₹7,054 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

This expansion in top-line revenue provided a solid foundation for the profit jump, reflecting robust business growth and effective credit management.
