Broadcom and Apple have agreed to extend their strategic partnership through 2031 to develop and supply a range of custom chips, the semiconductor company announced Monday.

The agreement locks in a long-term supply relationship for bespoke silicon, reinforcing Broadcom’s position as a key enabler of Apple’s hardware roadmap.

The extension provides Broadcom with significant revenue visibility and underscores the growing importance of custom silicon in the smartphone and broader consumer electronics markets.

For Apple, the deal ensures a dedicated supply chain for specialized processors that differentiate its devices from competitors relying on off-the-shelf components.

This development follows Broadcom’s recent unveiling of the Jalapeño chip, its first jointly developed artificial intelligence processor with OpenAI.

The Jalapeño launch marked the company’s expansion into custom AI silicon for data centers, complementing its existing portfolio of networking and wireless chips.
