Brookfield Asset Management has closed a $2 billion capital raise for its Brookfield Middle East Partners (BMEP) private equity fund, securing commitments from strategic anchor investors including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

The fund aims to deploy half of its capital in Saudi Arabia, with the remainder allocated across the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

The move underscores a continued push by global asset managers to capitalize on the region’s economic diversification efforts, even as broader geopolitical tensions persist in the Gulf.

Brookfield is also advancing investments in energy infrastructure in the region, navigating the complex interplay between trade risks and long-term structural growth opportunities.

This development follows earlier reports that the firm had secured initial anchor commitments, highlighting the speed at which institutional capital is flowing into the Middle East’s private markets.

The fund’s focus on infrastructure and private equity aligns with the strategic priorities of Gulf sovereign wealth funds, which are increasingly seeking yield-generating assets outside traditional hydrocarbon revenues.
