The Chilean Air Federation (Fedach) and associated aviation clubs have launched an air bridge to transport humanitarian aid to the Coquimbo and Atacama regions, collaborating with the National Emergency Office (Senapred).
The operation, which began on Wednesday, involves 14 aircraft and six helicopters establishing routes between Copiapó, Vallenar, and La Serena to support communities affected by recent wildfires.
This civilian aviation effort complements broader government response measures, including the deployment of Canadair firefighting aircraft to tackle blazes in inaccessible terrain.
The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed that resources from the Emergency Fund are being utilized to support these operations, aiming to assist vulnerable citizens in the hardest-hit areas.
