Coinbase has opened a new office in Singapore and plans to expand its local workforce to approximately 200 employees by the end of 2026.
The move marks a significant deepening of the US crypto exchange's presence in Southeast Asia, one of the world's most active digital asset markets.
The expansion was announced alongside a ceremony attended by Coinbase country director for Singapore Hassan Ahmed and John O'Lo, the company's managing director for Asia-Pacific.
Kenneth Gay, chief fintech officer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), also participated in the event, underscoring the regulatory alignment between the firm and local authorities.
Singapore has positioned itself as a global hub for crypto innovation, balancing strict anti-money laundering rules with a clear licensing regime for virtual asset service providers.
Coinbase's decision to scale its local headcount suggests the company views the city-state as a strategic base for regional growth, particularly as Asian retail and institutional demand for digital assets continues to evolve.
