Shoppers in Cyprus could save nearly €67 on a standard basket of household goods by switching to lower-priced alternatives within the same stores, according to new research from the country's consumer protection service.
The study, published on Monday, analyzed everyday items and found that significant price gaps persist between branded and private-label products.
The findings underscore the importance of consumer choice in mitigating the impact of high retail prices, which have remained a concern for households on the island.
This development adds to a growing body of data suggesting uneven price pressures across different product categories in Cyprus.
Previous Eurostat data from 2025 indicated that Cypriot consumers pay well above the EU average for dairy and oils, while prices for meat, vegetables, and fruit remain below the bloc's average.
The consumer protection service's latest analysis suggests that while absolute price levels may be high in certain sectors, strategic shopping behavior can significantly reduce the cost of living.
