The Danish Ministry of Justice failed to disclose DKK 235,000 in severance payments during its recent restructuring of the country's top law enforcement leadership.
The omission emerged as details surfaced regarding the exit package for Thorkild Fogde, the former national police chief, who was among the senior officials removed from their posts.
New Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen (Social Democrats) initiated a sweeping review of the police and prosecution services in late June.
The overhaul resulted in 13 of the 18 top executives being reassigned or dismissed.
Fogde, who had served as the head of the national police, was one of the most prominent figures affected by the minister's decision to reset the leadership structure.
According to reports from Ekstra Bladet, the ministry's initial accounting of the restructuring costs overlooked the specific severance amount tied to Fogde's departure.
