French industrial software leader Dassault Systemes is in advanced discussions to acquire ArisGlobal, a provider of clinical trial software, for approximately $2 billion.

The potential transaction would see the Paris-listed company purchase the firm from private equity owner Nordic Capital, according to reports from the Financial Times citing sources familiar with the matter.

The deal represents a strategic pivot for Dassault Systemes, which has traditionally focused on engineering, manufacturing, and aerospace software.

By integrating ArisGlobal’s platform, the company aims to deepen its foothold in the life sciences sector, where digital transformation of drug development processes is accelerating.

The acquisition would allow Dassault to offer a more comprehensive suite of tools for pharmaceutical companies managing complex clinical trials.

Nordic Capital, which has owned ArisGlobal, stands to realize a significant return on its investment if the transaction closes.
