The incident, involving the gas storage tanker Energos Winter, represents a significant escalation in security threats to maritime infrastructure in the region.
Port services provider Inchcape confirmed the fire on two gas transport tankers, while three sources indicated that a drone hit one vessel before the blaze jumped to the adjacent ship.
The ownership of the drone remains unconfirmed.
