The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the former Managing Director of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) on charges of money laundering.

The case was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, marking the latest escalation in regulatory scrutiny of Nigeria's downstream oil assets.

This development follows closely on the heels of the EFCC's recent arraignment of Ahmed Dikko, the immediate past Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited (PHRC).

Dikko was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged financial irregularities, establishing a pattern of enforcement action against top executives of the nation's two largest state-owned refineries.

The legal proceedings against the Warri refinery executive have already seen a procedural resolution regarding detention.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court granted bail to the former managing director, identified in court records as Yisawu.
