El Salvador Vice President Félix Ulloa has put forward a proposal to restructure the Central American Integration System (SICA) into a union modeled on the European Union.
The plan, unveiled on July 30, seeks to deepen political and economic coordination across the region, moving beyond the current framework of the organization.
The proposal is currently under review and has not yet been adopted as policy by member states.
