The European Union has imposed new sanctions on three oil refineries in Russia and one in Belarus, according to the EU Council.
The measures also include a ban on transactions with a Georgian refinery allegedly involved in trading and refining Russian oil.
This marks a further escalation in the bloc's efforts to restrict Russia's energy export capabilities.
The sanctions target specific nodes in the Russian energy supply chain, aiming to disrupt the processing and export of crude oil.
By including a Georgian facility, the EU is attempting to close loopholes used to refine and re-export Russian products.
This broadens the scope of existing restrictions beyond direct Russian and Belarusian entities.
