Mykhailo Fedorov, the former Ukrainian defense minister, has declined to serve as an advisor to President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the presidential office.
Dmytro Lytvyn, Zelensky’s communications advisor, told reporters on Friday that while Fedorov will not take on the advisory post, he will remain part of the president’s broader team.
The statement clarifies Fedorov’s status following his recent dismissal from the defense ministry, a move that was part of a wider cabinet reshuffle announced by Kyiv in recent days.
The development adds another layer of complexity to Zelensky’s efforts to restructure the Ukrainian government.
Earlier reports indicated that Fedorov had also turned down an offer to become prime minister, signaling a potential rift or strategic disagreement within the administration.
The uncertainty surrounding Fedorov’s future role has drawn attention from markets and international partners monitoring the stability of Ukraine’s leadership during the ongoing conflict.
