Fiji's annual inflation rate accelerated sharply to 6.1% in June, up from 3.9% in May and a contraction of 1.2% a year earlier.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji attributed the surge primarily to higher fuel costs, which are driving up transport and haulage expenses across the economy.
