GAIL (India) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Khanij Bidesh India (KABIL) to deepen cooperation in the exploration and development of critical and strategic minerals.
The agreement, announced on Friday, marks a strategic pivot for the state-owned gas giant as it seeks to secure supply chains essential for India’s long-term energy and industrial needs.
The collaboration addresses the growing demand for critical minerals, which is expected to require substantial investment across the supply chain over the next two decades.
By partnering with KABIL, the government’s mineral exploration arm, GAIL aims to leverage state-backed resources to mitigate supply risks associated with key commodities used in renewable energy technologies and electric vehicles.
This move aligns with broader efforts by Indian energy majors to diversify their portfolios amid shifting global energy dynamics.
GAIL has previously been identified by analysts as a stock with technical strength and sector momentum, with HDFC Securities strategist Vinay Rajani citing it as a top pick for near-term accumulation.
