Gaz-System has officially named its first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) 'Solidarity,' the company announced on Thursday.

The vessel, which serves as Poland's inaugural floating LNG terminal, underscores the strategic importance of the project in the nation's broader energy security framework.

The name references the historic labor movement, aligning the infrastructure with themes of independence and resilience.

The development highlights the accelerating build-out of LNG import capacity in Central and Eastern Europe.

By securing a dedicated floating terminal, Poland has significantly enhanced its ability to source gas from global markets, reducing reliance on traditional pipeline routes.

This infrastructure addition supports regional supply flexibility and provides a critical hedge against geopolitical supply disruptions.
