Greece is set to approve a €3.5 billion ($4 billion) contract for a multi-layer air defence system from Israel, along with several types of drones.
The country's security council, KYSEA, is expected to give its final green light on Thursday, marking a significant expansion of military ties between the two nations.
The deal provides a substantial tailwind for Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the primary contractor likely to supply the systems.
The order comes as the Israeli government has recently approved the merger of Elta Systems into IAI, clearing a critical regulatory hurdle for the state-owned defence giant's planned initial public offering.
This consolidation aims to streamline operations and enhance the company's market valuation ahead of its public debut.
The procurement aligns with recent upgrades to Israel's own air defence capabilities.
