Kaieteur Sports – Defending champions Guyana completed another dominant campaign at the 2026 Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Junior Championships in the British Virgin Islands on Thursday, successfully retaining the overall title with a commanding display across the Singles, Doubles and Team events.

Flying the Golden Arrowhead high, the Guyanese contingent once again stamped its authority on Caribbean junior squash, finishing with an outstanding haul that included seven singles gold medals before adding doubles titles through the formidable pairings of Kaylee Lowe and Emily Fung-a-Fat, and Egan Bulkan and Shiloh Asregado.

The championship was fittingly sealed in the Team competition, where Guyana captured gold in the Girls' Team event and secured silver in the Boys' Team championship, more than enough to clinch back-to-back overall CASA Junior crowns.

The Girls' Team proved untouchable in the 1-3 playoff against Barbados, producing a pristine 4-0 sweep without conceding a single game.

Emily Fung-a-Fat was at her brilliant best, dismantling Morgan Daniel 11-0, 11-0, 11-8, while Malia Maikoo completed the dominant performance with an emphatic 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 victory over Thalia Knight as Guyana marched confidently to another regional team title.

The Boys, meanwhile, faced a resurgent St Vincent and the Grenadines outfit in the championship clash and were forced to settle for silver after the Vincentians produced a clinical display on the final day of the championship to clinch gold.

Jude Gobin went down to Zavin Garrick 11-2, 11-0, 11-4, while Justin Ten Pow was defeated in straight games by Jayden George. Shiloh Asregado and Joshua Verwey also found the Vincentians too strong, with Aiden De Freitas and Jaydon Williams ensuring their side completed a comfortable 4-0 sweep over the arrowhead boys.

Although the Boys narrowly missed out on the team title, Guyana's dominance throughout the week had already laid the foundation for overall championship success.

The nation's commanding performances in the Singles and Doubles competitions, coupled with the Girls' Team gold and Boys' Team silver, ensured the defending champions comfortably retained Caribbean junior squash's most coveted prize, the 2026 championship.

With another CASA Junior Championship added to an already impressive record, the country's young stars continue to uphold a proud legacy spanning more than six decades, highlighting the sustained growth and excellence of the sport in Guyana.
