Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is accelerating plans to double the production capacity of its flagship Malanjkhand mine in Madhya Pradesh, with Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Mishra confirming the project is on track to reach 5 million tonnes by 2030.
The expansion aims to push the company's total output to 12.2 million tonnes, marking a significant scaling of India's largest copper producer.
The capacity increase at Malanjkhand represents a major domestic supply boost for the state-owned enterprise.
By doubling output at this single site, HCL is addressing the growing demand for copper within India's industrial and infrastructure sectors while reducing reliance on imports.
The project's timeline suggests a rapid execution phase, with the company working at a "fast pace" to meet the 2030 target.
This domestic expansion runs parallel to HCL's international growth strategy.
