Hindustan Zinc, the zinc smelting and mining subsidiary of Vedanta Limited, reported a consolidated net profit of ₹5,469 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, marking a 145% increase from the ₹2,234 crore recorded in the same period last year.

The sharp rise in profitability was driven by better realisation and lower costs, even as production volumes remained relatively flat.

The most significant contributor to the top-line growth was silver, with revenue jumping 169% to ₹3,839 crore, reflecting strong market prices for the precious metal.

Zinc sales revenue climbed 48% to ₹7,304 crore, while lead revenue increased 25% to ₹1,086 crore.

The most significant contributor to the top-line growth was silver, with revenue jumping 169% to ₹3,839 crore, reflecting strong market prices for the precious metal.

This result underscores the financial resilience of Vedanta's mining operations, which have consistently set new production benchmarks.

The company recently reported record first-quarter mined metal output, marking the fifth straight year of production growth, attributed to operational efficiencies and sustained investment in its asset base.

For investors, the earnings highlight the importance of silver as a value driver within the base metals complex.

While zinc remains the core business, the volatility and upside in silver prices can significantly amplify quarterly results, providing a hedge against softer demand in industrial zinc applications.
