Home Credit India has agreed to acquire Varthana, a prominent education-focused lending platform, for ₹967 crore.

The transaction marks a strategic expansion for the financial services arm of TVS Venu, aiming to deepen its footprint in the consumer credit sector by adding a specialized education lending business to its existing portfolio.

The acquisition complements the group's broader lending operations, which are managed under TVS Credit Services and Home Credit India.

By integrating Varthana, the company seeks to diversify its loan book beyond traditional retail and commercial lending, targeting the growing demand for education financing in India.

This move aligns with the group's strategy to broaden its financial services offerings and capture market share in niche consumer segments.

The deal underscores the increasing consolidation in India's digital lending space, where larger players are acquiring specialized platforms to enhance their product suites and customer reach.
