The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has proposed a new framework allowing companies to list directly on the GIFT City stock exchange without conducting an initial public offering.

The regulatory proposal introduces an IPO-free route to public markets, designed to enhance visibility and liquidity for firms operating within the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City jurisdiction.

This development marks a strategic pivot for the regulator, which is seeking to broaden avenues for equity listings after the jurisdiction's first IPO attempt failed to gain traction.

By removing the traditional IPO hurdle, IFSCA aims to attract a wider range of companies to the platform, potentially accelerating the growth of the international financial services hub.

The move aligns with broader efforts to deepen India's capital markets and position GIFT City as a competitive global financial center.

Major discount brokerage platforms, including Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox, and Dhan, are already preparing to launch overseas investing services through the IFSC, signaling growing institutional interest in the zone's infrastructure.
