India is stepping up as a critical supplier of refined petroleum products to Asia, with exports surging to help alleviate a regional fuel crisis.

The shift underscores the country's growing role in global energy logistics as geopolitical tensions and rising crude prices disrupt traditional supply chains across the continent.

The export surge is underpinned by a record volume of crude oil imports into India.

Indian refiners have successfully diversified their supply chains, largely recovering to pre-conflict import levels by increasing purchases from alternative sources, notably Russia.

This influx of raw material has allowed domestic processors to ramp up output of diesel, gasoline, and other refined products, which are now being shipped in significant quantities to neighboring Asian markets facing tight supplies.

This development mirrors a broader structural shift in Asian energy trade, where India is increasingly acting as a processing hub similar to China's role in crude oil markets.
