Indonesia is preparing to return to the Chinese bond market later this year, according to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
The minister signaled that a second issuance of Panda Bonds is planned for 2026, building on the momentum from the country's inaugural offering earlier this month.
The latest development follows Indonesia's successful debut in the market on July 23, where it raised CNY 7 billion (approximately US$1 billion) in yuan-denominated debt.
The latest development follows Indonesia's successful debut in the market on July 23, where it raised CNY 7 billion (approximately US$1 billion) in yuan-denominated debt.
The initial issuance was underwritten after China Lianhe Rating Co., Ltd. awarded Indonesia a AAA credit rating with a stable outlook, validating the sovereign's creditworthiness in the domestic Chinese market.
Panda Bonds are yuan-denominated debt instruments issued by foreign entities in mainland China.
For emerging market sovereigns like Indonesia, the market offers a strategic alternative to traditional dollar and euro funding sources.
