Australian lithium producer Ioneer has signed separate non-binding memorandums of understanding with South Korea’s KIND and Hyundai Engineering to advance its Rhyolite Ridge lithium-boron project.

The agreements mark a step toward securing technical expertise and potential offtake partnerships for the Australian miner’s development in Western Australia.

The MoUs are non-binding, meaning no financial commitments or definitive terms have been finalized.

However, the partnerships signal growing interest from South Korean industrial players in securing supply chains for critical battery minerals, particularly lithium and boron, which are essential for electric vehicle batteries and advanced materials.

Ioneer’s Rhyolite Ridge project is one of the few known lithium-boron deposits globally, offering a unique value proposition in the critical minerals market.

The involvement of Hyundai Engineering, a major South Korean engineering and construction firm, suggests potential collaboration on project development and infrastructure, while KIND’s participation may indicate interest in long-term supply agreements.
