Iran has rejected attempts by the United States to coordinate regional security around the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that the critical waterway falls exclusively under Tehran's authority.
The declaration comes as Washington convened several Middle Eastern nations in Bahrain to discuss safety protocols for the chokepoint, a move Iranian officials have dismissed as illegitimate interference.
Iranian Vice Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi posted on X that the strait is under Iranian command, not the US Central Command (Centcom).
This rhetoric reinforces a broader hardline posture from Tehran, which has previously declared that the management of the Strait of Hormuz is the sole responsibility of the Iranian government.
The statement serves as a direct rebuke to the US-led diplomatic effort, signaling that Iran will not cede operational control or oversight to external military or political bodies.
