Iran exported approximately 70 million barrels of crude oil worth between $5 billion and $6 billion during a brief truce with the United States, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The data, cited from a non-governmental source, indicates that roughly 20 Iranian tankers were headed for Asian destinations between mid-June and mid-July.

Previous reports from Tehran indicated that Iran had already exported more than 40 million barrels of crude following the blockade's removal, selling the oil at prices roughly 20% below benchmark rates.

The exports occurred while the US Treasury Department had temporarily suspended sanctions on Iran’s oil production, sales, and delivery.

This pause in enforcement allowed the Islamic Republic to resume significant crude flows to international markets, with the suspension set to expire on August 21.

This latest batch of exports adds to the volume Iran has moved since the United States lifted its naval blockade of Iranian ports.
