Karnataka is finalising a comprehensive Data Centre Policy designed to build the digital infrastructure required for artificial intelligence and next-generation computing.
The initiative aims to support the growing demands of global capability centres (GCCs) and hyperscale providers operating in the region.
The policy includes the establishment of India’s first public AI University and an innovation hub, signalling a strategic push to integrate talent development with physical infrastructure.
This move positions the southern state as a key node in India’s expanding data centre ecosystem.
The announcement follows similar regulatory pushes from other major Indian states.
Gujarat recently unveiled its own Data Centre Policy for 2026-29, targeting cloud infrastructure and AI-driven services.
