Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd (KPGB) has acquired a 9.09% equity stake in ES Sunlogy, a mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering firm with a focus on renewable energy.

The transaction was valued at RM18.76 million, marking a strategic entry for the Malaysian conglomerate into the specialized solar and M&E services sector.

The investment signals a shift toward deeper integration in the renewable energy value chain, moving beyond general contracting into specialized engineering partnerships.

By taking a minority stake rather than pursuing a full acquisition, Kerjaya Prospek appears to be testing the waters for potential synergies in solar project execution and M&E infrastructure, areas where ES Sunlogy has established operational capabilities.

This move aligns with broader trends in Southeast Asia’s energy transition, where traditional engineering firms are increasingly seeking equity ties with renewable specialists to secure project pipelines and technical expertise.

The deal comes as regional players like SWELECT Energy Systems and Aditya Birla Renewables have recently expanded their footprints through similar strategic acquisitions in India and other emerging markets.
