South Korean equities extended their decline for a third consecutive session on Thursday, with the benchmark KOSPI index closing down 69.68 points, or 1.23%, to finish at 5,593.56.
The sell-off was driven by renewed volatility in the semiconductor sector, which erased early intraday gains and weighed heavily on investor sentiment across the market.
The downturn continues a sharp correction that began earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, the KOSPI plunged 184.20 points, or 2.71%, to close at 6,622.73, marking the index's lowest level in nearly three months.
Wednesday’s session saw further downward pressure, anchored by weakness in Samsung Electronics, the country’s largest technology firm and a key market bellwether.
The persistent selling in chip stocks has broadened the impact beyond the semiconductor sector, dragging down the wider index.
