Brazilian power utility Light (LIGT3) has completed a R$1.5 billion (approximately US$296 million) capital increase, marking a decisive step toward exiting its judicial recovery process.

The equity issuance satisfies the final requirement for the company to leave the court-supervised debt restructuring framework, allowing management to refocus on operational investments and balance sheet normalization.

The move comes as Brazil’s power sector sees a wave of equity activity, with peers like Engie Brasil recently filing for a substantial share offering.

Light’s ability to raise fresh capital signals improving investor appetite for Brazilian utilities, even as the sector navigates regulatory and financial headwinds.

The capital raise provides Light with the liquidity needed to fund planned infrastructure upgrades and reduce reliance on high-cost debt financing.

Exiting judicial recovery is a critical milestone for Light, which has been under court supervision to restructure its obligations and stabilize operations.
