The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has confirmed plans to launch LSE 24, a dedicated night-time trading venue, in the first half of 2027.

The new platform will operate independently from the exchange's main market, designed to extend trading hours and bridge the gap between Asian and US market sessions.

The initiative addresses a long-standing structural disadvantage for London-based equities, which have historically lost liquidity to US-listed peers during overnight hours.

By offering continuous access, LSE aims to reduce price dislocation and provide investors with greater flexibility to react to global news events outside traditional European trading windows.

This move follows earlier reports from the Financial Times regarding the exchange's strategy to modernize its infrastructure and compete more effectively with US markets.

The LSE 24 platform is expected to initially focus on a select group of high-liquidity stocks before potentially expanding its universe.
