Barisan Nasional (BN) has confirmed it will contest upcoming state elections against its federal coalition partner, Pakatan Harapan (PH), while maintaining the unity government at the national level.

The clarification comes as political rivals prepare for state-level contests that could reshape regional power dynamics without destabilizing the federal administration.

The dual-track strategy aims to preserve the stability of Malaysia’s federal unity government, which has been a key factor in maintaining investor confidence in the country’s policy environment.

Senior political figures, including DAP leader Lim Guan Eng, have previously indicated that the federal coalition is expected to remain intact despite electoral competition at the state level.

This approach seeks to balance democratic competition with governance continuity.
